Previously state leaders had called for a Sabahan to lead the university

KOTA KINABALU: Kota Belud-born Professor Dr D Kamaruddin D Mudin has been announced as the new Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) vice-chancellor.

The announcement was posted on the Higher Education Ministry’s official Facebook and Instagram accounts today.

Kamaruddin will replace current vice chancellor, Professor Dr Mohd Harun Abdullah, also a Sabahan, who is set to retire on June 18.

Previously, state leaders including Chief Minister Musa Aman had been calling for a Sabahan to lead the university once Mohd Harun has completed his tenure.
