Farid was detained on Thursday after he allegedly attacked a policeman and a civilian in a fit of rage after reading a text message on his phone
KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Farid Kamil has been remanded for four days after allegedly slapping a policeman and kicking a civilian at the Kota Damansara police station.
Petaling Jaya magistrate Zaki Ashraf Zubir made the order to remand the actor this morning.
The actor’s lawyer Athari Bahardin said his client was remanded to assist in investigations under Section 353 of the Penal Code for criminal assault of a public servant and Section 323 of the same Code together with Section 90 of the Police Act for disorderly conduct and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Farid, 37, was detained on Thursday after he allegedly attacked the duo in a fit of rage after reading a text message on his phone.
The actor is understood to have been lodging an accident report at the police station when he allegedly slapped the policeman taking his report and kicked the leg of the man next to him.
Meanwhile, Farid’s wife and actress Diana Danielle had denied that her husband was distressed because he has not been allowed to see his two children.
Diana, 26, said: “Since I have to go to work, I left my children under my mother’s care.
“My mother’s house is only one floor below from our unit, in the same condominium building. He could have easily gone to see the kids if he had wanted to,” she said, as quoted in the New Straits Times today.
Diana also added that she had never left any instruction not to allow Farid from seeing the kids.
Earlier today at the Petaling Jaya court complex, Farid’s brother Fadzil Zahari claimed that family problem has taken a toll on his brother’s mental health.
“He told me three days ago that he had not seen his children for several days,” he said.
Fadzil said he tried to contact Diana, but it had been futile.
