Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Zahrain Mohamed Hashim said Fateh Iskandar, or better known as FD Iskandar, should do so to defend his credibility as head of a leading media company in the country

JAKARTA: Chairman of Media Prima Bhd Fateh Iskandar Mohamed Mansor has been urged to take action against Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Advisory Board chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz Ibrahim for accusing him of giving a false report to Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Zahrain Mohamed Hashim said Fateh Iskandar, or better known as FD Iskandar, should do so to defend his credibility as head of a leading media company in the country.

He said if FD Iskandar was in the right, he should refute Tunku Abdul Aziz’s allegation as it involved the Media Prima’s image, credibility and integrity as a mass media company, which also has an influence in Indonesia.

“FD Iskandar must come forward to refute the allegation, he cannot remain silent over the accusation that had given a false report to the prime minister by saying that TV3’s ratings had fallen sharply due to Tunku Abdul Aziz’s 12 consecutive appearances on the channel, ” he told Bernama here today.

Zahrain said he knew Tunku Abdul Aziz as a man with principle and integrity and who is well respected by many for his strong criticisms over issues on bad governance, social injustice and corruption.

As such he said everyone would want to hear an explanation from FD Iskandar that he never gave a false report or lied to the prime minister as alleged by Tunku Abdul Aziz.

The ambassador said if FD Iskandar refused to take legal action against Tunku Aziz, then it was appropriate for him to resign as chairman of Media Prima Bhd.

On Monday, Tunku Aziz demanded an apology from FD Iskandar or to be prepared for legal action as the claims made against him were ridiculous.

He said FD Iskandar’s claims were untrue because as it was not confirmed by any professional rating agency and that the statement was made simply to mislead the prime minister.

Tunku Abdul Aziz further said that he only appeared on TV3’s Bulletin Utama three times, namely on Oct 19, 11 and Nov 14, and not 12 times as claimed by FD Iskandar.

He said the allegations had tarnished his name and were used to fulfill personal interests and agenda.
